Scope and Contents

A collection of plans and drawings of agricultural buildings in Perthshire, Kincardineshire and Aberdeenshire. The estates concerned were owned by Lord Clinton and the Forbes family.

The plans were originally numbered in red, but the sequence is incomplete.

Dates: 1871-1893, undated.

Further papers of the Forbes and Stuart Forbes families of Fettercairn and Pitsligo, with papers of the Trefusis family relating to Fettercairn and Pitsligo.

Scope and Contents The papers cover six centuries worth of family and estate papers of the Forbes, the Stuart Forbes, and the Trefusis families. Alexander de Forbes (c.1380-1448) was created the 1st Lord Forbes around 1440, the Lords Forbes of Pitsligo were descended from Sir William Forbes, brother of Alexander. The title was created in 1633 for Alexander Forbes (d.1636).
